How Much Money Do You Need to Be Happy?
We all know that we need some money to be happy. That’s because we live in a world where we depend on each other to meet our basic needs. We can’t grow our own food, build our own houses or make our own clothes without the assistance of others.
However, given that many of us spend the best years of our lives working, we need to answer the question of how much money we need to be happy.
But how much do we need, exactly? Figures range on this subject, but most studies suggest that you need around $65,000 to $75,000 per year. After that, happiness levels flatten out.
That’s surprising. While incomes like that are relatively high, they’re not unattainable. A good chunk of people actually exceed that level. You don’t have to be a CEO earning millions of dollars per year to touch true contentment.
How you earn your money seems to matter too. It could be that people who earn more than about $75,000 aren’t happy because of the amount of time that their jobs require of them. If they’re working all the time, they can’t enjoy the finer things in life, such as more time with their loved ones.
It could also be to do with the increased levels of responsibility. People in higher-paying positions are usually on the hook for other people’s jobs and wellbeing. If they don’t make the right decisions, then others may suffer.
Of course, despite the claims in the media, this isn’t an exact science. You won’t automatically become happy if you earn more than $75,000 per year. However, it is a good indicator of what the average person needs to feel a sense of contentment in their lives.
Building cash flow is also important. Remember, income is more than just your job – it’s the money you get from all sources. So, for instance, you might receive money from stock dividends, your paycheck and rental income on properties you own.
A Clauneck demon pendant is allegedly able to increase your cash flow. So if you’re struggling to build a second income, then it might be something you consider.
You want some work in your life, though. You need to do something that fills your days with meaning and purpose. If you’re not doing something that you enjoy, then you can fall into the pleasure trap – and that’s not a place you want to be. Work keeps you grounded, focused and concentrating on a goal.
Remember, even if you have a billion dollars in the bank, that’s not the end of your life journey. It just means that you have more options. You can use your money in novel ways.
Highly conscientious people should never stop working – even in retirement. If you have a certain type of personality, you should use whatever money you made from your last project and plow it into the next.
Don’t feel like you have to earn a lot of money to be happy, though. You don’t. Working on yourself from within can free you from the desire for more money entirely while boosting happiness at the same time.
